1. Transition Altitude / Transition Level

Transition Altitude (fixed value): 10 000ft.

Transition Level is not fixed and depends on local QNH:

2. RVSM (Reduced Vertical Separation Minima)

RVSM airspace — between FL290 and FL410.

For eastbound flights (000°-179°) you must use an odd flight level (FL290, FL310, etc...).
For westbound flights (180°-359°) you muse use an even flight level (FL300, FL320, etc...).

4. Squawk Codes

For IFR flights SQ code will be assigned by ATC on initial contact. If your departure airfield placed in uncontrolled airspace, don’t set your own SQ code! In this case use default transponder code 2000.

For VFR flights you should use standard VFR squawk code 7000.

Special SQ codes: 7600 (Communication Failure), 7700 (Emergency).

5. Speed limitation

Maintain 250 kts IAS (or less) below 10 000ft. This restriction can be exceeded only with ATC permission.

6. Visual Flight Rules

VFR flights are operated within Classes C, D, G airspace under observance of the following conditions:
a) flights are operated only in daytime;
b) your departure AND destination airfields have the next weather condition: the ceiling is not less than 450 m OR the ground visibility is not less than 5 km;
c) SSR transponder in A/C mode during flights in ATS airspace within Classes C and D airspace is required;
d) flight plan (FPL) shall be submitted to the appropriate ATS units for flight operation within Classes C and D airspace.

Except when necessary for take off or landing, a VFR flight shall NOT be flown:
a) over the congested areas of cities, towns or settlements or over an open-air assembly of persons at height less than 300 m (~ 1000ft) above the highest obstacle within a radius of 600m from the aircraft;
b) elsewhere than as specified in a) at a height less than 150 m (~ 500ft) above ground or water.

7. Airspace classification

Ukrainian airspace divided on three classes:

a) Class C - IFR and VFR flight are permitted. All flights are subject to air traffic control service and IFR flights are separated from other IFR flights and from VFR flights. VFR flights are separated from IFR flights and receive traffic information in respect of other VFR flights.

b) Class D - IFR and VFR flight are permitted and all flights are subject to air traffic control service. IFR flights are separated from other IFR flights and receive traffic information in respect of VFR flights. VFR flights receive traffic information in respect of all other flights.

c) Class G - VFR flights are permitted and flight information service provided if requested.
Note 1: If class G airspace established above 5950 m (FL 195) IFR flights are permitted and flight information service provided.

8. Uncontrolled airspace

In uncontrolled airspace you must transmit all your intentions via text on UNICOM 122,800.
